Innovation and valorisation of agroforestry wastes
R+D+I is an essential part of our work.
envirohemp has successfully launched and participated in several innovation projects at national and international level with numerous research collaborations in close partnerships:
• LIGNOFOOD 7PM Project (2013-2016) "Ingredients for the Food and Beverage Industry from ligno-cellulosic sources"
lignofood becomes a high value commercial outlet for one of the three constituent fractions of the processed plant biomass (hemicellulose). Within this framework, envirohemp aims to develop and test the extraction of hemicellulose by a biomass fractionation process at pilot scale and to produce active carbon with the solid residue
obtained in the mentioned process, and thus, a full use of the product is achieved. After developing and testing the process at pilot scale, an assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of the process will be performed to finally develop an integrated biomass exploitation plant at industrial scale.
The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union´s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) managed by REA-Research Executive Agency http://ec.europa.eu/research/rea under grant agreement n° 606073.
